Library News & Events

Now that I have your attention, I want to let you know, or remind you if you've forgotten, that beginning in January 2008, all paid AACA members are eligible to receive 1 1/2 hours of free research from the AACA Library. This applies to research done for you by the staff. The $10 processing fee is still required and you are asked to use a Research Request form to make your inquiry. And, as always, when visiting the AACA Library, there is no charge other than any photocopies you may need. Give us a call prior to your visit and we'll have the material ready for you.
PIERCE-ARROW SOCIETY MATERIAL
ARRIVES AT THE AACA LIBRARY
On May 8th, Ralph McKittrick, President of the Pierce-Arrow Society and Henry May, PAS Publication & Library Chairman, delivered the library of the Pierce-Arrow Society to the AACA Library. This represents the 8th organizational library that the AACA Library stores and administers. Consisting of sales brochures, photographs, parts books and manuals, the PAS Archives are a great storehouse of information on the Pierce-Arrow cars and trucks. We are very pleased to be able to provide this service for the PAS.

In the photo on the left, Ralph McKittrick, Henry May and Steve Moskowitz, AACA Ex. Director begin unloading the trailer. The photo on the right shows the Pierce-Arrow material stacked on tables in the lower level of the library.

LIBRARY SEMINAR AT THE ANNUAL MEETING
The AACA Library & Research Center presented a seminar in Philadelphia at the 2008 Annual Meeting on Friday, February 8. Entitled YOUR VEHICLE - AACA LIBRARY AND AACA JUDGING, this seminar discussed how research will help with the restoration process and judging. Opening with an explanation of the merger with the AACA and the benefits for the Library and AACA members, the audience learned how the Library is bringing automotive history and people together. Panel members included Sally Barnett, 2007 President of the AACA Library and a librarian, Jeff Lesher, a Past President of the AACA Library, Eric Marsh, a senior master judge and member of the National Awards Committee and Kim Miller, AACA Librarian. Fran Shore, 2007 Vice-President of the Library served as moderator. We enjoyed talking to everyone who stopped by the booth at the Trade Show.
The Library Committee appreciates all who continue to provide development and support to the AACA Library as the Library builds for the future. We are setting the standard in collecting, preserving and sharing automotive history.

NEW LIBRARY POSTER
A highlight of the Library's seminar at Philadelphia was the unveiling of a new "READ" poster. The poster, featuring AACA Executive Director Steve Moskowitz and his granddaughter Marah, was presented to Steve during the seminar. Multiple copies were made and one hung in the Library's Trade Show booth during the Annual Meeting. That one now hangs in the Library in Hershey. Several were also used as door prizes at the conclusion of the seminar. The picture below shows 2007 Library President Sally Barnett presenting Steve with his poster.

1925 Overland
The Library’s Overland has returned to the front porch of the AACA headquarters and AACA Library and Research building in Hershey, PA. A thank you to Ernie Screen and his crew of dedicated volunteers from Sugarloaf Mountain AACA Region who did the preparation for returning the car to a recognizable state.
